💻 Workability Score: 23/40

WiFi Speed & Stability – 7/10
The WiFi speed was generally good, with 29Mbps download and 17.3Mbps upload. We were able to work online without major issues, even with two people on calls at the same time. However, there were two instances over the two-week stay where the internet struggled during simultaneous video calls. The WiFi signal was strong in the bedroom (where one of the desks was located) but weaker in the kitchen, where the second workspace was set up.

Workspace Quality – 6/10
The property provided a dedicated desk space in the bedroom, which was a good setup overall. However, the chair at the desk was quite uncomfortable, making it less suitable for long working hours—particularly for those prone to back pain. An alternative working space was available in the kitchen, using a round dining table with standard dining chairs, which proved to be more comfortable than the desk chair. The lighting was excellent in both work areas, with adjustable main lighting and a desk lamp in the bedroom workspace. Power outlets were well-placed, but we had to use our own extension cables to provide enough sockets for multiple devices.

Noise Levels – 9/10
Despite being in the centre of town, the apartment was remarkably quiet. The bedroom workspace was particularly peaceful, making it an excellent location for focused work and calls. There was some minor background noise in the kitchen from the street, but this didn’t interfere with calls and wasn’t picked up on Teams when not using a headset.

Mobile Signal – 1/10
Mobile signal was a major downside. Despite online coverage maps stating that 3 (Three) network had good reception in the area, we experienced very poor signal throughout the flat, with some complete dead spots. This meant we had to rely entirely on WiFi for mobile calls and data.

🏡 Living Score: 28/30

Accommodation Quality – 9/10
The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with high-quality furnishings and thoughtful touches throughout. The kitchen was well-equipped, offering everything needed for self-catering, including a fridge, freezer, oven, hob, microwave, and dishwasher. Small extras such as coffee, biscuits, and a filter coffee machine were a welcome addition. The host was very responsive, typically replying to messages within seconds.

Kitchen Facilities – 10/10
We cooked most nights, and the kitchen was fully equipped with all necessary utensils, pots, and pans. Everything functioned well, and we had no trouble preparing meals. There was a Co-op supermarket just a short walk away, along with several excellent bakeries and restaurants.

Bathroom Quality – 9/10
The bathroom was modern, clean, and well-maintained, with excellent water pressure and consistent hot water availability. The shower had two modes (overhead and handheld), and both were powerful and easy to control.

🌍 Location Score: 24/30

Location & Surroundings – 9/10
The apartment was in a great location, offering easy access to shops, restaurants, and green spaces. Tetbury felt safe, clean, and pleasant, with a friendly local atmosphere. Dog owners would particularly enjoy the stay, as there were multiple walking routes nearby, including large playing fields (15 minutes away), countryside footpaths (5 minutes away), and a fantastic circular walk from the old railway station (30-45 minutes round trip).

Walkability & Transport Links – 7/10
The town was very walkable, with lots of pedestrian-friendly routes and easy access to different areas via well-placed crossings and shortcuts. While we didn’t use public transport, parking was available nearby for £4 per day, with a free parking option about a 10-minute walk away. There was also the convenience of loading/unloading directly outside the property for up to an hour free of charge. Some cafes in town had ‘no laptop’ policies, so remote workers looking to work outside the accommodation should check before settling in.

Local Attractions & Activities – 8/10
For those who enjoy countryside walks and a relaxed atmosphere, Tetbury is an excellent destination. There were several great walking routes, and Westonbirt Arboretum was a short drive away. The restaurants and pubs were enjoyable, with The Snooty Fox and The Royal Oak standing out as decent options. However, nightlife is limited, and even the locals described the town as ‘boring’ in the evenings. If you’re looking for a quiet and picturesque place to work and unwind, Tetbury is ideal. If you’re after lively social scenes or late-night entertainment, it may not be the best fit.
